David Sligar lives and works on Gadigal Country. He is a policy analyst, consultant and researcher, specialising in welfare state, public finance and distributive justice issues.
He has worked in social policy and budget policy divisions within the Commonwealth Treasury and Finance Departments, and as a unit manager in economic governance at the Australian Embassy in Jakarta.
Sligar has also been a Ministerial adviser, including for a former Commonwealth Treasurer and as chief economic adviser for state party leaders.
He has first class honours in sociology from the University Wollongong, with his thesis focusing on the turn against welfare and rehabilitive policy considerations in the criminal justice system. He has a graduate diploma in economics from Monash University.
