Biography

Antoinette Gentile is a proud Wollithiga woman of the Yorta Yorta Nations. Prior to coming to Djirra, Antoinette spent almost 20 years in the Department of Justice and Community Safety and was the Director of the Koori Justice Unit from 2016 to 2020. In partnership with the Aboriginal Justice Caucus, Burra Lotjpa Dunguludja (the fourth phase of the Victorian Aboriginal Justice Agreement) was developed and launched in August 2018. The launch of AJA4 saw the largest investment in the history of the Agreement, allowing for a new direction, significant expansion across government and development of innovative initiatives to address Aboriginal overrepresentation across the justice system.

Antoinette is passionate about ensuring the voices of the Aboriginal communities are heard and inform the development of policies, programs and services for Aboriginal people.
