Laura Beacroft is a lawyer and researcher with a long standing commitment to improving access to justice. She has extensive experience working in the justice system to develop and deliver better services, for example legal aid services, Indigenous legal services and family violence prevention services. She has led agencies that regulate and support community based organizations and native title land-holding bodies, and developed better legislation to this end. She has extensive research experience – she led the first tranche of anti-slavery research for the Australian government, has undertaken many reviews and evaluations of key services and programs, and is the author of numerous papers and a legal textbook that focus on Indigenous legal issues.
