The Justice Map was designed by See Your Change consulting Founder and Director Melanie Poole. Melanie has worked extensively with justice organisations in both Australia and the United States, including as Executive Officer of Change the Record, Australia’s only Aboriginal-led justice coalition, and as Director of Policy, Strategy and Advocacy at Victoria’s peak body for community and Aboriginal legal centres. She has also worked in senior roles within the trade union movement, the Australian public service and academia.
Through See Your Change, Melanie works with social change organisations who are tackling critical strategic decisions and challenges, and require deep analytical skills, creative thinking, and assistance in developing clear, measurable, purpose-driven plans – particularly across areas such as policy, advocacy, strategic litigation, communications and evaluation. To this work, she brings her rare combination of skills across research, public engagement and advocacy, government relations, project management, evaluation and organisational leadership.
Melanie’s background also includes international human rights advocacy as CARE International’s United Nations representative, and community development and project evaluation work in Kenya, Pakistan and the Northern Territory.
Melanie holds a Masters of Public Administration from New York University, where she was the Anne Wexler – Fulbright Public Policy Scholar for 2013-2015, and where she also received a prestigious New York University research fellowship. She also holds a Law degree with Honours and a Bachelor of Political Science from the Australian National University.
